![]() ![]() Tusk in no way helped the growing tensions between the band and resulted in the (underrated) course-correction of Mirage and later Tango in the Night. It went on sale at an absurdly high price ($55 injusted for inflation) and had already been bootlegged by the masses after being played in full on the radio. The mammoth 2-LP was essentially a collection of solo records dominated by Lindsay Buckingham’s frantic, hair-pulling attempts to make the band relevant and move away from the sound of Rumours. While Rumours may be Fleetwood Mac’s defining album, no record has had an impact on the trajectory of the band like its controversial follow-up, 1979’s Tusk. ![]() ‘Short, snappy, horny and rabid, ‘Tusk’ is honest where Rumours was indignant and naive…’
